Sep 30,  · The recent death of the great Norman Borlaug inspired me to develop a list showcasing the top 10 most influential individuals in the history of agriculture and farming. This list is by no means definitive, but rather my first attempt to capture those individuals and their achievements that changed the world of agriculture (see footnote. While the intent of the book is to trace the history of Cotton Incorporated, the producer-funded research and promotion organization, and its role in rescuing U.S. cotton from its status as also-ran fiber and turning it into one of the 20th century's greatest marketing successes, the authors also skillfully weave into the narrative a wide.
